Blog Entry"I am your MOTHER..."Feb 17, '07 12:31 AM
for everyone

I suddenly remember Darth Vader telling Luke Skywalker "I am your father...".

Anyways, I took a peep at how my baby animetric.com is doing. The new owner seems to be active and full of enthusiasm in what he undertook, and I was reduced as "Mrs. Lei" in the lower left-hand corner of the menu entitled "Farewell by Mrs. Lei". Mrs. Lei? The bloody hell, I sound like somebody's mother!!!

Wait a minute... I am somebody's mother.

It's just that I've never referred to myself as Mrs. Lei, since I started the site when I was still single. Whichever the case, a simple Ms. Lei would have sounded less crummy and loads more elegant.

One of my friends suggested burning all bridges and totally disassociating myself from the moniker "Animetric". How could I? I AM ANIMETRIC. Yes, I no longer own and run the site but I created the name, and no offense to the new owner Aaron but I think most of the site's regular visitors would agree that if they were to envision Animetric as a person, that would still be me. It's a hard position to fill, and Aaron still has to prove himself to the anime-loving populace. Even as I type this I'm already thinking of a new web project to keep my free time occupied.

Hence, the web diva formerly known as Animetric...

Blog EntryGoing, going, gone...Jan 30, '07 9:33 PM
for everyone

I'm now finalizing the payment details for my website. It's the last hurrah so to speak. Can't really complain though it was fun while it lasted, it brought me a lot more than just extra cash there was also more than a mere 15 minutes of fame in the online anime circuit, and I even got quoted in several American anime DVD covers, boxes, and stores. I had somehow proved to myself I could make something out of nothing.

I will divulge the rest of the new ownership details when the deal is sealed. I'll probably write a goodbye letter and an endorsement for the new owner...

Maybe next time I'll start a website about baby products or toys or whatever... I don't know. I'm definitely not gonna put up any more adult content though, even if sex does sell. I think I've seen one to many hentai anime and played one too many bishoujo games. I'll probably pass on my vast collection of original anime DVDs to my children. I even have a Fushigi Yuugi limited edition boxed set autographed by Yuu Watase herself... that should be worth a lot when my children are old enough to understand the anime.

As one of my friends said, it's like the end of an era. My husband told me I told him long ago that I would never get tired of anime, of reviewing, and of maintaining my site. Seems I was wrong.

I'm still nuts over video games though, but a video game review site is out of the question!!!

Blog EntrySite for sale... Jan 27, '07 11:13 AM
for everyone

Since 1999 I've been working on anime reviews at my site Animetric.com. I eventually added hentai anime and bishoujo games, and I have more than 450 reviews online at present.

Lately though I can't bring myself to watch any type of anime much less play bishoujo games. I get pissed off every time my monthly server bill arrives. My interests have shifted, and my time is now divided differently. It's definitely time to let go.

Thus I've posted a "for sale" sign on my site's main page. So far the site has supported itself and even earned some cash for me over the years through affiliate programs, but as things go, if things continue as they are -- me not updating and all, it's gonna die.

Hopefully someone will pick it up and continue the work I've started. So far I have a couple of serious offers and maybe soon it will be sold... seriously though, it's like raising a child and letting it go.
