The Grid by Silicone Zone - http://www.siliconezone.com - is a square silicone trivet, pot-holder, and jar-opener which I got off the rack on a whim (and a gift certificate, heh heh). It was actually the jar-opener function that caught my attention because many a time I'd try to open mayonnaise jars, tea bottles, and the like I'd use my shirt or any rag lying around to cushion my hand. Sometimes that would work, but not all the time.

With Silicone Zone's The Grid, there's never an unopened jar or bottle in the house again! It's really effective, it makes opening stuff so easy. It looks so modern and decorative too, just love those vibrant colors!

Blog EntryGood Housekeeping Baon WorkshopMay 27, '07 9:29 PM
for everyone

Last Saturday, my sister and I attended a free cooking workshop organized by Good Housekeeping and Nestle held at the Julius Maggi Kitchen in Rockwell. It featured renowned chef Vicky Veloso-Barreira's (of Vicky and Letlet Veloso fashion fame) quick and easy recipes for kids. She cooked up four dishes: Corn Dogs, Nestle Savory Nuggets, Yummy Chicken Noodle Salad, and Something Fishy (pictured on the left).

Vicky made the batter for the Corn Dogs from scratch using cornmeal and they were oh-so-yummy! Tasty with a distinct crunch folded in. The Nestle Savory Nuggets used a combination of shredded bread, prawns, and chicken and were crunchy outside while chewy and flavorful inside. The Yummy Chicken Noodle Salad had this wonderful dressing which tasted a lot like Sugarhouse's Chinese Chicken Salad dressing, while Something Fishy is tuna-pizza-sandwich with a twist.

Needless to say, we all got to eat everything that was cooked. I'm so sure my son will love these dishes, and the best part is, they are all extremely easy to do. We were given handouts with all the recipes. Vicky also had some of her cookbooks on sale there at 10% off, with the added bonus that she was there to sign them.
