Our whole family went to see High School Musical: The Ice Tour today thanks to Skycable. Keirra was very excited all week long and kept asking me "Mommy are we watching the skating High School today?". Anyways today the answer was "Yes!". High School Musical: The Ice Tour covers both HSM1 and HSM2. HSM1 before the intermission, and HSM2 after. The adaptation was perfect, they even translated a lot of HSM's signature dance moves on ice. Since we were seated at the Upper Box A area, we had a good view of all the formations but couldn't quite see the performers' faces. Keirra was convinced they were the original cast. She just sat there transfixed throughout the entire show. This is also my hubby Peter and son Kenshin's first time to see any form of Disney on ice -- Kei and I had gotten patron tickets to Disney on Ice earlier this year courtesy of Manila Bulletin. It was a really great show, one that HSM fans would surely love. I'm glad my kids had the chance to see it. I especially liked Troy's performance of "Bet on It". The stadium was almost full up to the bleachers. I didn't bring my digicam because I just wanted us to sit back and enjoy the show... hence no pics. Anyhow I'm sure it's something the kids will remember for a very long time. :D

Disney on Ice adaptation of the movie "High School Musical".
OMG, OMG, OMG!!! I was just not expecting this. My daughter Keirra really wants to watch this. I joined contests on Smart Parenting, Total Girl, and K-Zone since they were giving away 2 tickets to 5 winners per mag... but to no avail. I had just about given up when I got a call today from Skycable that we won 4 tickets for the July 20 show. Four tickets na, Sunday pa! Now we can watch as a whole family, I'm so happy! I would like to especially thank sis Yzie for sharing this contest at the GT Mom's multiply account. Thanks talaga sis! I wouldn't have known about it had you not shared. :D

Keirra appears in Disney's Princess Magazine for the third time this year! I emailed her Princess Jasmine pic for the Princess Postbag section in the hopes of winning the Best Costume award but it somehow ended up here in Fairy Godmother Corner of the July-August 2008 issue. Oh well... At least we'll get P300 worth of Time Zone GCs so Keirra can play her favorite game, Love and Berry! My 7-year old cousin Ana Marie Eberhard also made it to the Fairy Godmother Corner page... Disney's Princess Magazine is giving away Crocs Jibbitz for this issue. Although I'd like some Jibbitz for Kei's Crocs I don't think we can win again next issue when we've just won this time... unless by some miracle we make it to Princess Postbag, hehe. For a chance to win Crocs Jibbitz, just answer the question "What's your favorite color of Crocs?". Send your answers with your full name, age, address, email add, contact numbers, and your loveliest photo to princesspromos@summitmedia.com.ph with the subject: "Fairy Godmother Corner July-August". Deadline of entries is on August 5, 2008.
| | We've been trying to get into the Disney Princess Postbag section to no avail so here are the photos anyway... I submitted both some months ago. I wonder what their criteria is?
The background for the first photo is made up of two separate pictures. I grabbed Aladdin's carpet from the Kingdom Hearts video game and found an Agrabah cel posted somewhere online... ahh the wonders of Adobe Photoshop. |
We watched the press screening of the Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus 3D Concert at D-Cinema of The Block last night. Nikki Gil hosted the event and there were a lot of media people and little girls among the audience. Since it was by invitation, we were spared from the long line of people trying to get tickets for the next show(s) and were able to get decent seats without much trouble. There were ABS-CBN event marshalls all around to ensure safety and order. We won our tickets from a recent promo SM Cinema had. We were handed 3D glasses and some sponsor freebies (keychain, memo pads, playing cards, etc) as we went in the cinema. It was our first time to watch a 3D movie in the Philippines. They also gave away some Hannah/Miley CDs before the show but unfortunately we didn't win any. I was impressed because the show started at exactly 7:30pm, just like the ticket said. The 3D movie was very clear, it was as if Hannah/Miley was actually performing live in front of you. Keirra even reached out to try and grab the confetti that was being scattered throughout her concert, since they were practically popping out of the screen. This is the first time Kei has ever been transfixed on a movie, the last time I brought her to the advanced screening of Surf's Up she kept standing up, walking around, and talking. This time she was glued to her seat and silent, singing and dancing a little in her chair as the concert went on. I guess this is even better than watching the concert live since you get an extremely clear view of the performer. Tickets are being sold for P350 each, which is a good deal considering they sold it for US$15 each in the US last February. It's a one week long engagement starting April 30. If your kid is a Hannah/Miley fan like Keirra is, he/she will really enjoy this.
| | Our Disney experience was less-than-perfect due to the Spring Break crowd, but the kids loved it all the same. The average queue times for the attractions ranged from 40 to 90 mins, albeit there were a few 5-20 min lines and we got to use a Fast Pass once. Kei and I concentrated more on the Disney Princess attractions (interactive storytelling, enchanted walkway, coronation ceremony, etc) while hubby and Ken went off to Tomorrowland. We got to watch the Parade of Dreams wherein Giselle from "Enchanted" was the first to come out. Unfortunately I was not able to take a picture of Giselle on her stagecoach because I had to carry Kei so she could wave to Giselle. |
| | Wow, tough luck to be going to Disneyland on Spring Break!!! There were so many people it was a sea of heads and bodies the whole time. Keirra and I had to queue up for 45 minutes at the Enchanted Walkway of the Princess Fantasy Faire just so she could meet, greet, and have her pics taken with three random princesses. Just before our turn came up Jasmine, Mulan, and Belle started to leave. Kei saw them and was just awestruck. Anyhow we got our photo ops with Fairy Godmother (such striking blue eyes!), Snow White, and Cinderella. Cinderella was especially nice and friendly. She chatted with Keirra and just before she left she asked Kei to give her a hug. Now when you ask Kei who her favorite princess is it's Cinderella all the way!
P.S. These are the Disney photographer's pics, I have some of my own on our cam but since I didn't bring my USB cable I can't upload them just yet. |
Ever since Disney on Ice started plugging, Keirra had been wanting to watch it. Luckily we won two lower box tickets worth P 1,100 each and so we went to see the show last Saturday. Disney on Ice: Mickey and Minnie's Amazing Journey features a re-telling of five Disney movies -- The Lion King, 101 Dalmatians, Little Mermaid, Peter Pan, and Lilo & Stitch. The stories are told via medleys of the songs in the movies interspersed with some lines of dialogue as the skaters glide through the ice. There are props for each of the stories, like for Little Mermaid they had this gigantic Ursula come out for the finale which Prince Eric slays just like in the movie. They even had the main characters fly across the rink for Peter Pan. There were also a bit of fireworks. Quite a spectacle indeed, and my little girl was transfixed throughout the show. In fact she just told me she wants to watch it again! Kids below 3 feet can watch for free but won't be assigned their own seats. Oh and the show starts EXACTLY on time so don't be late.
| | Pics from the long-awaited costume bash! We got the "Most Unique Princess" award for being the only one dressed as Mulan. I'm such a lousy photographer I hope lovingmom has more pics I can grab, haha. Wasn't able to take any pics of Keirra getting awarded because she wanted me to go with her in front every time. Can't wait for the party coverage in Disney Princess Magazine's future issue!

Finally, the long-awaited Disney's Princess Mag's 4th Anniversary Party! Held at McDonald's Greenhills from 3-5pm, 50 lucky readers were invited to the magical costume bash. Luckily my little girl Keirra was one of them! Keirra went to the party dressed as Mulan, garnering countless stares as soon as we set foot in McDonalds. I thought she would best represent Mulan out of all the princesses because of her oriental features. It was games, food, and prizes galore! There were 12 special awards for the princesses (earliest, fairest, most creative, etc.). Keirra bagged the "Most Unique Princess Award" because she was the only one dressed as Mulan -- and so we got to take home a Little Mermaid playset which Kei just adores! Goldilocks also sponsored a mamon decorating contest which Kei and I mysteriously won. I thought our mamon was too simple because I just asked Kei to place the flowers and candies wherever she wanted while I worked on the frosting. We even accidentally broke the wings off our butterfly ornament so I just turned the body into a candle and frosted the antennas red for a birthday cake effect. Kei and I also made some great new friends as we got to meet Bianca, Yu-jin Chloe, Doc Patricia, and stagemom from GT. Lovely loot bags from Girl Stuff, Trolli, McDonald's, and Disney's Princess Magazine were distributed after the festivities. My little girl couldn't be happier today, thank you Disney's Princess Magazine! May you have many more birthdays to come and may you make more little princesses happy! We can't wait for the next issues. I'll be posting party pics later on, as I still have to sort them out. Update: Party pics posted here.
