If you are a Skycable subscriber and have kids aged 2-11 years old, why not join the Skycable Fun Club? One of the perks is getting a birthday pack for your child during his birthday month (pictured on the left is the birthday pack for the 3rd quarter of 2008) by being one of the first 50 to call and reserve that particular month. They change the birthday pack every quarter. Aside from the birthday packs, you get invites to special fun and educational activities like trips to Manila Ocean Park, SM Science Discovery Center, advanced screenings of family-oriented films, and lots more... all for free! Last summer they even had a series of free Trumpets workshops (complete with a final recital and certificates of accomplishment) for kids aged 7-11. I was not able to avail because Keirra is underage and my son Ken isn't really into performing arts. Click HERE to register. No, I don't work for Skycable... I'm just want to share this with fellow moms (and dads) because of all the good things my kids had been able to experience thanks to the Skycable Fun Club.
OMG, OMG, OMG!!! I was just not expecting this. My daughter Keirra really wants to watch this. I joined contests on Smart Parenting, Total Girl, and K-Zone since they were giving away 2 tickets to 5 winners per mag... but to no avail. I had just about given up when I got a call today from Skycable that we won 4 tickets for the July 20 show. Four tickets na, Sunday pa! Now we can watch as a whole family, I'm so happy! I would like to especially thank sis Yzie for sharing this contest at the GT Mom's multiply account. Thanks talaga sis! I wouldn't have known about it had you not shared. :D
Hmmm... I've been seeing this ETC All-Good Card advertised on ETC for some time now. They never say how you can get one though... they simply said to log on to http://www.etc.com.ph to know more. Well I did just that and guess what? According to the website you have to stay tuned to ETC to know how you can get one. Well I've stayed tuned and logged on, and still no go. I finally got my hands on an actual card when my sis-in-law, who's the marketing officer of MALDITA, managed to score some from an event. MALDITA is one of ETC's partner establishments and so there were some cards at their disposal. The card came with a small booklet which listed all the perks you can get by simply flashing them your ETC All-Good Card. Here are a few of those perks to give you an idea: TimeZone - P200 worth of load for only P160 Lancome - Once a month free makeover service and skin analysis Ebisu - Free dessert for P500 purchase Fuzion Smoothie Cafe - Get P300 GCs for every P1000 purchase Skin Food - 10% discount on cash purchase + free makeover + free product sample The ETC All-Good Card has over 50 different partner establishments. Now if only they'd say how a person can get one... anyways if I ever find out I'll be sure to share.
I won my first Ipod back in January 2006. It was a shiny blue Ipod Mini, I won it from a Chronicles of Narnia trivia contest. I had absolutely no interest in Ipods back then, I was actually aiming for the grand prize which was a trip to Hong Kong for four to watch the Narnia premiere in Disneyland. Anyways, my younger brother was obssessed with Ipods, but being a high school student he had no means to buy it himself. I contemplated selling it for a few thousand pesos but got to thinking would a few thousand pesos in my pocket make me all that much happier? Hence I decided to give the Ipod Mini to my brother, whose joy was beyond words upon receiving it. Fast forward to the middle of 2007. I joined a BTV NBA playoffs trivia contest, wherein I spent countless nights waiting for the live game which would at times air at 3am. The trivia question would flash during the game, so I really had to watch. Now anyone who knows me would know how much I dislike watching basketball... so it was really quite a task. In the end, I won a silver 2nd generation Ipod Nano among other prizes, which my mom told me she wanted. I gave the Ipod Nano to my mom, who's still happily using it right now. Some two or three months after, I joined a Skycable-Cartoon Network text contest wherein the grand prize was a snazzy black Ipod Classic 80GB. I won. My hubby was immediately enamored with it since he likes downloading videos of all sorts from the internet, and this was the model with the biggest GB count. Again, I gave the Ipod to him. Last March 2008, I won my 4th Ipod from the Pepsibilities writing contest. It was a lovely black Ipod Touch 8GB. Although I have little interest in music and videos (I hate wearing those ear plug things), this particular model had wifi. I opened the box, tried the wifi and internet capabilities, and was immediately hooked. Everyone in my family who had ever wanted an Ipod already got one, so this particular one was left for me. Computer geek and internet junkie that I am, it was perfect! Finally, God gave me one for me. :D Luke 6:38 "Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you."
First thought, ano kaya yun? Anyways, I joined Velvet's "Sex and the City Fly Away Promo" last June. The contest entailed answering a trivia question and emailing them a scan of your valid US visa because the grand prize is a trip to New York for 2 w/ pocket money. I literally jumped out of bed near midnight when I saw the contest plug just to join! I saw my name on TV some 2 weeks ago as one of the first weekly winners, but they never did say what the weekly winners are going to get... I talked to Velvet a few days ago and they said I'm still qualified for the grand draw. Of course given my rotten luck with raffles eh... asa pa.

| | Went to GMA Network yesterday where Keirra was awarded the Barbie Mariposa doll for winning the Barbie Hot Wheels Mothers' Day Promo. We were told that they had received 600+ entries and in the end they had to choose 3 girl winners and 3 boy winners. One of the girl winners could not make it to the awarding but I saw on the paper that she had a Japanese surname. After the photo ops we had some pizza and drinks for merienda and I got to chat a bit with the Richwell and QTV people.
Our winning picture will be shown on QTV starting next Tuesday or Wednesday. |
Every Saturday Manila Bulletin has an ongoing contest sponsored by Merriam Webster and National Bookstore. They give a word and its meaning, then you have to use the word in a sentence and email your sentence to info@nationalbookstore.com.ph. The best sentence will be chosen and will win a Merriam-Webster Compact Dictionary. I joined the contest a couple of weeks ago because I wanted to win a dictionary for my son, so when the school asks him to bring a dictionary I won't have to buy one anymore, hehe. I won last June 7, 2008 with the word "ascetic". The contest runs until April 2009, so there's still a lot of chances to win. Click on the image above for a closer look at the contest mechanics.

We had P2.5k worth of Red Box GCs expiring on June 18 and so hubby and I decided to put them to good use last Sunday. We took the kids to Red Box at Greenbelt 3 and availed of their Sunday Family Funday promo. At P329 per head you can eat-all-you-can, drink-all-you-can, and sing-all-you-can from 12 noon to 3pm. Kids below 6 years old are free. The kids had a blast belting out Disney hits from High School Musical, Hannah Montana, and various animated movies. It was a truly unique Fathers' Day for us. We even took home a Margherita Pizza for merienda and a couple of dishes for dinner, hehe. We had to finish all the GCs after all! Special thanks to Spot.ph for the GCs!
Wow, I just found out today that my little boy Kenshin won a Granado Espada Limited Signature Edition set in a recently concluded K-Zone raffle. For those who don't know, Granado Espada is a Korean fantasy online role-playing game. There are only 9,999 of these sets in the world and it's worth about P2,500 at present.
| | Joined Skycable Fun Club's Manila Ocean Park Learning Tour. Got four free tickets, food stubs (from Krispy Kreme, Waffle Time, Jimini Pizza, and Zagu), and a loot bag. The best part was we got to tour at 8am, when the park normally opens at 9am so our group had the place to ourselves. It wasn't crowded or hot. Skycable had some activities and sponsor games after the tour too. Kei won a National Bookstore backpack with a planner inside. The kids had a good time.
I was surprised that Manila Ocean Park had a Fish Spa like the one in Singapore's Underwater World. For P100, you get to dip your feet in a pool while little fishies nibble on your dead skin for 20 minutes. Singaporeans swear by it. |
Wow, my score in the Speed Racer flash game bagged us tickets for the advanced screening tomorrow night! I didn't think I'd make it to the top ten but I somehow did... anyways hubby and son will surely be thrilled. Ken also played and his score made the cut as well, so our whole family can watch! :D
We watched the press screening of the Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus 3D Concert at D-Cinema of The Block last night. Nikki Gil hosted the event and there were a lot of media people and little girls among the audience. Since it was by invitation, we were spared from the long line of people trying to get tickets for the next show(s) and were able to get decent seats without much trouble. There were ABS-CBN event marshalls all around to ensure safety and order. We won our tickets from a recent promo SM Cinema had. We were handed 3D glasses and some sponsor freebies (keychain, memo pads, playing cards, etc) as we went in the cinema. It was our first time to watch a 3D movie in the Philippines. They also gave away some Hannah/Miley CDs before the show but unfortunately we didn't win any. I was impressed because the show started at exactly 7:30pm, just like the ticket said. The 3D movie was very clear, it was as if Hannah/Miley was actually performing live in front of you. Keirra even reached out to try and grab the confetti that was being scattered throughout her concert, since they were practically popping out of the screen. This is the first time Kei has ever been transfixed on a movie, the last time I brought her to the advanced screening of Surf's Up she kept standing up, walking around, and talking. This time she was glued to her seat and silent, singing and dancing a little in her chair as the concert went on. I guess this is even better than watching the concert live since you get an extremely clear view of the performer. Tickets are being sold for P350 each, which is a good deal considering they sold it for US$15 each in the US last February. It's a one week long engagement starting April 30. If your kid is a Hannah/Miley fan like Keirra is, he/she will really enjoy this.
Just register at http://www.nikewomen.com.ph/thisislove/ and Nike will sponsor your very first session with a sport of your choice. The choices include ultimate frisbee, bellydancing, Bikram yoga, volleyball, rock climbing, football, wakeboarding, and surfing. If you try out all the sports you'll get a Nike discount card. Here's to good health! I highly recommend Bikram yoga... oh and I think the offer is for women only.
I think there is such a thing as being over-vacationed. Star World called sometime last week and told us we're scheduled to be in Boracay from April 22-25, for the trip we won last January from their "Beyond the Break" TV promo. We haven't even recovered our normal time from our US trip. I'm not all that gung-ho because I'm not really a beach person. In fact if possible I would like to live in a cold country and stay away from the sun for the rest of my life. But my kids just love the beach and so this would be a good opportunity for them to experience a darned good beach. I would be more enthusiastic but then this is our third trip for the year in a span of almost 3 months and I really do think we're somewhat over-vacationed.
I received the registered mail from Pepsi today, it seems I won the grand prize in the Pepsibilities writing contest I posted about earlier. I'm going to get a Sony Ericsson w300i walkman phone and an Ipod Touch!!! I was jumping and screaming after I opened the envelope, hehe.
