It's a Ponds Bloggers Party!
| | We went to Coke Zero's bloggers party held at SM Mall of Asia last Friday. There was quite a spread as a buffet dinner was provided by Reyes Barbecue, Taste Asia, and Sizzling Plate. There was free-flowing Coke Zero and SM Bonus bottled water, as well as appetizers served at our tables before the buffet opened.
SM gave away truckloads of SM Science Discovery Center tickets via games and contests, and Coke launched their new Buhay Coke video contest at the event. Every registered blogger got a case of Coke Zero (24 cans!) just for showing up... hubby had quite a time lugging the whole case to the car. |

It's another bloggers' party!
| | Keirra was the one and only Flower Girl at my sister's wedding last June 7, while Ken was the Ring Bearer. I had the flu then, I brought a bottle of Tylenol and kept taking it every 4 hours so my fever wouldn't flare up. It was the only thing that kept me up and about. I was totally confined to my bed the next day, and the day after. |

Celebrating 1000 reviews and counting...
| | I attended the Spot Launch Party with my friend Beia at CAV Wine Bar and Restaurant in Fort Bonifacio High Street yesterday. Spot is a joint web venture of Summit Media and GMA Network, it features restaurant reviews mostly but will also cover shopping places, spa services, and the like.
We had food and wine pairings that afternoon, the food was delicious. I'm the farthest thing from a wine connoiseur but it was a good experience. The event was hosted by Marie Claire Beauty Editor Ms. Marie Calica, and most of the Summit Media people were there (of course!) including the president Ms. Lisa Gokongwei-Cheng, whom I really admire.
I met Spot managing editor Ms. Cathy Paras, whom I had been communicating with via email prior to the event. My review of Portico and I were featured in the Spot AVP, there was somebody who played me in the presentation wahahaha talk about having a stunt double. We also got to chat with Ms. Nicole Bulatao (General Manager of Spot and Associate Publisher of Marie Claire) and Ms. Myrza Sison (EIC of Marie Claire, and Editorial Director of the whole Summit Media group!). We were also entertained by the street magician Conrad.
We went home with a goodie bag containing a Spot pen and various GCs, a specially made cupcake by Sonja called Reese's Peanut Butter Pie, and a Spot champagne glass filled with Chocolate Confections' yummy treats. It was a great party! Loved the food, wine, and the people. I miraculously won a P1k Madison Grill restaurant gift certificate too. :D

Spot.ph's launch party!
| | Pics from the long-awaited costume bash! We got the "Most Unique Princess" award for being the only one dressed as Mulan. I'm such a lousy photographer I hope lovingmom has more pics I can grab, haha. Wasn't able to take any pics of Keirra getting awarded because she wanted me to go with her in front every time. Can't wait for the party coverage in Disney Princess Magazine's future issue!

Finally, the long-awaited Disney's Princess Mag's 4th Anniversary Party! Held at McDonald's Greenhills from 3-5pm, 50 lucky readers were invited to the magical costume bash. Luckily my little girl Keirra was one of them! Keirra went to the party dressed as Mulan, garnering countless stares as soon as we set foot in McDonalds. I thought she would best represent Mulan out of all the princesses because of her oriental features. It was games, food, and prizes galore! There were 12 special awards for the princesses (earliest, fairest, most creative, etc.). Keirra bagged the "Most Unique Princess Award" because she was the only one dressed as Mulan -- and so we got to take home a Little Mermaid playset which Kei just adores! Goldilocks also sponsored a mamon decorating contest which Kei and I mysteriously won. I thought our mamon was too simple because I just asked Kei to place the flowers and candies wherever she wanted while I worked on the frosting. We even accidentally broke the wings off our butterfly ornament so I just turned the body into a candle and frosted the antennas red for a birthday cake effect. Kei and I also made some great new friends as we got to meet Bianca, Yu-jin Chloe, Doc Patricia, and stagemom from GT. Lovely loot bags from Girl Stuff, Trolli, McDonald's, and Disney's Princess Magazine were distributed after the festivities. My little girl couldn't be happier today, thank you Disney's Princess Magazine! May you have many more birthdays to come and may you make more little princesses happy! We can't wait for the next issues. I'll be posting party pics later on, as I still have to sort them out. Update: Party pics posted here.
| | Grabbed these pics from Laszlo since he was more or less that night's official yehey.com photographer... |
Just got back from yehey.com's Christmas party. We were asked to wear any type of head gear -- hats, bandannas, headbands... I instinctively knew there was going to be a headgear contest. My friend called yehey.com earlier in the day and was told to come in costume for a bigger chance at winning. Anyhow, I don't have any costumes on hand and it was short notice so I just grabbed my daughter's kitty ear clips which I bought from HK Disneyland and wore white and pink to match it. My friend went as a pink fairy complete with a pink wig with flowers and a wand and I knew right off she was going to win. Everyone else was clueless and had on regular baseball caps, hats, headbands... Anyways the party was held at Karylle and Dingdong Dantes' newly opened Circle Cafe at Timog / Tomas Morato and there was food, entertainment, raffle prizes, and loot bags. The buffet consisted of garden salad, spaghetti carbonara, steamed rice, lumpiang shanghai, breaded fish fillet, mushroom soup, and chicken adobo (I think). The loot bags had a bottle of C2 lychee, XO butter caramel candies, and a nice 2008 Yehey! planner. Given my rotten luck in raffles, I somehow won a couple of SM Cinema passes valid till Feb 2008. My pink fairy friend bagged the 3k cash prize for having the best headgear and costume, as well as two Animax goodie bags from the raffles -- one of which she gave me because I was the one who had informed her of the Yehey! party. Entertainment consisted of performances from the bands Reklamo and Moonstar88, as well as Karylle herself. There was also a group called Giniling Festival, who's supposed to be some sort of hybrid band-comedy act. They were all male, they smoked and drank while performing, and they were pretty fond of suggestive language. They were devoid of talent as well, I felt all they did was bang on the instruments and shout their heads off. I actually stayed in the bathroom during one of their songs because my ears and head were already ringing. Karylle and Dingdong stuck around till the end of the party and there were lots of photo ops which I chose not to take because all I had once again was my flashless cellphone cam... pics from the party grabbed from Laszlo here.
We spent the entire afternoon at the Rockwell Tent today for Skycable's Tropical Christmas Party. Kids were entertained by a juggling act, magic show, and bubble show. There was also a dance showdown between the Jollibee and Mr. Frosty mascots. There were also games kids could join onstage, face painting, and food carts like Potato Corner, Mr. Frosty, and Jimini Pizza. The main merienda fare was a piping hot Chicken Joy meal from Jollibee. Kenshin was able to join two games, the host was really nice that way giving kids equal opportunity to join as he didn't allow kids in the previous game to join the next game. The first game Ken joined was a relay and his team won, they all got Ben 10 watches. The second game was Hawaiian Stop Dance and again he was one of the top three winners, they got Uno (card game) t-shirts as prizes. The best prize we won was for making the best straw hat in the whole party, for which we got the Uno Stacko game! We weren't able to join the art contest since most of our time was taken up making the hat. Unfortunately Keirra was a tad too young for the games... so maybe next year. At least she got picked to be one of the kids to go inside the giant bubble on stage (in the picture). After the party, Cartoon Network loot bags were distributed containing a thick spiral CN character notebook, two sets of CN stickers, CN tattoos, 3 Choco Pies, coupons for free play at Robinsons Galleria's inflatable play area (can't remember the name) and a cut-out Uno Card Game sampler. Not to sound like a commercial but we're really sooo looking forward to what the Skycable Fun Club has in store next year!!! My kids were just so happy today. Pictures of the whole event can be found here.

I attended Sugar Sugar Magazine's launch party with my two sisters-in-law at Nuvo in Greenbelt tonight. Sugar Sugar is published by Manila Bulletin and is the latest teenage-oriented magazine to hit the market. After ABS-CBN Publishing's Pink Magazine disappeared off the face of the earth some months ago (it finally conceded defeat to Summit Publishing's Candy and stopped publication), the team behind Pink moved on to a new home and Sugar Sugar was born. Since my cellphone camera doesn't come with a flash, I wasn't really too keen on taking pictures in Nuvo's dim surroundings. I just couldn't resist a photo op with ETC's Sam Oh (who is a Sugar Sugar columnist) because she's so nice and bubbly. I have leafed through Sugar Sugar's maiden issue released this October and its cute size and clean yet colorful layouts are reminiscent of Taiwanese / Japanese / Korean girls' magazines. It's also jam-packed with readables, and it costs only 85 pesos. Anyways the party started at around 9pm and ended at around 10pm. We were served one round of Coors Lights beers (no food, heh) as Luxasia distributed Roxy perfume samples to all the guests. Some games were held as well. I won a Chocolate Clothing Co. Grab tote bag which contained a bandanna, a hardbound journal, and a Chocolate Clothing Co. discount card from Sam's question and answer game. I should've held out though because had I volunteered like 2 people later I would've walked away with a Shu Uemura gift pack which contained an eyelash curler, lipstick, and eyeshadow (my sis-in-law won one). They also had a raffle draw from all the business cards thrown in the fishbowl, prizes up for grabs included 2 big bottles of Roxy Fragrance, 3 SprintAsia gift packs containing Air Stockings Spray on Hose, 2 bags from Crumpler, and an Apple Ipod Nano. I'm not really the luckiest person on the block, I remember attending a Skycable event for 40+ people and not winning any of the 25 raffle prizes up for grabs. By some miracle my business card was drawn and I won a big bottle of Roxy Fragrance worth US$58 in the US...
I was fortunate enough to have been invited to Marie Claire magazine's 2nd birthday bash. I was told I could bring a guest so I went with my sis-in-law to the Mercedes Benz Showroom at Fort Bonifacio Global City where the party was held. There were free-flowing food and drinks courtesy of M Cafe -- smoked salmon, creamy risotto, pesto pasta, 5-cheese pizza, beef satay, duck liver puffs... and some other foods I don't quite know how to name. There was also unlimited champagne, wine, and iced tea. I loved the creme brulee dessert, and although I hate jackfruit I also tried the jackfruit panna cotta. We also got to take home goodie bags with the November issue of Marie Claire, a Mango catalog, Toblerone chocolate, and a Mercedes Benz keychain. Marie Claire's Ten Women of the World for the year 2007 were also awarded during the celebration. Iza Calzado was one of the awardees but couldn't make it to the event so her dad and brother accepted the award for her. By some weird twist of fate we were on the same table as them because they came with GMA folks from Startalk and my sis-in-law used to work at GMA so she knew them all. I saw lots of familiar faces, mostly make-up artists I had encountered at one time or another and Summit Media people. Anyways we left the party at around 8pm I think... (it started at 5pm).

| | Keirra's 3rd birthday party celebrated at Nursery I - Ruby of DML Montessori. It was held last Oct. 9 (her birthday is Oct. 15) so that my mom can participate (she flew back to Los Angeles that same night). |

Last night hubby and I attended the SM Hypermarket Bloggers Party at Mall of Asia since it was the awarding ceremony of the SM Hypermarket Blog Contest. My entry got a consolation prize -- a pair of Nike Vision Cadence sunglasses worth about US$100. I was aiming for something better but hey... you live and learn. At least now I know what exactly it is they are looking for... unfortunately it wasn't what I wrote. Heh heh. There were free-flowing food and drinks served by cheerful and accomodating SM Hypermarket staffers. As soon as we got a table, we were served with endless plates of appetizers -- cheese sticks, lumpiang shanghai, siomai, pizza, hot dogs... and our choice of drinks. Since I still had a cold I just settled for water, and I ended up trying San Miguel's Infinit which is a green tea-flavored gin tonic. It tasted like sweet lemon-flavored green tea infused with gasoline but I'm not really a good judge of alcoholic drinks... The program started before 9pm and afterwards we were asked to dig in the 5-course buffet (tempura, salt and pepper spare ribs, baked mussels, pandan chicken, barbecue) they had prepared. Hubby and I also took home around 1k worth of grocery items (useful stuff like shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, etc) from their raffle. We left the party around 10:30pm.
